The beginning of this pleasant footpath along the coast of Candelaria is in the upper part of the Plaza de la Patrona de Canarias or at Playa de la Viuda. It is a walk through the best conserved coastal landscapes. Beaches, cliffs, bufaderos (small inlets), and areas colonised by spurges coexist in a space which invites you to ponder on the co-existence of man with nature. The footpath runs parallel to the edge of the cliffs, with the result that it and the sea become walking companions. Historically, this footpath is linked with the communications between the coastal settlements of Candelaria, Arafo and Güímar, as well as the existence of the so-called Marian Triangle, which has been related with the places of the appearance and traditional worship of the Virgen de Candelaria since pre-Hispanic times.
